Why train with us?

The Cotswold Teaching School Partnership offers an outstanding Teacher Training programme. With the GITEP PGCE awarded by the University of Bristol, trainees get an immersive but fully supported opportunity to train in an outstanding school. Trainees are a part of the school from day one and are warmly welcomed into the school community.

The Cotswold School is a large rural comprehensive school based in beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water but within a wide catchment area across the North Cotswolds. It was the Sunday Times Comprehensive School of the Year in 2015-16, appears in the Good Schools Guide, achieves outstanding results that put it in the very top schools in the country and has received an Outstanding award from Ofsted for 4 successive inspections, the latest being March 2015. It is the sort of school where teachers can develop their skills, repertoire and pedagogy with receptive and engaged pupils.  As our course has grown we have also begun partnering with the nearby Chipping Campden Academy, also an outstanding school offering an excellent place to train to teach.

We have a long and proud tradition of training future teachers. An established programme of training, excellent subject specific mentors and an experienced whole school training manager all help to provide a valuable course. We can offer a breadth of experience, and teaching at all age groups and abilities (including sixth form).  This is a genuine comprehensive school thus giving trainees a valuable repertoire ahead of their future careers.  Trainees perform well here, often gaining the top awards, and gaining employment, many here at The Cotswold School. Our secondary School Direct course works with our partner schools in Chipping Campden, Burford, Winchcombe, Cirencester, Bishop’s Cleeve, Churchdown and Gloucester, but we do also use other local secondary schools for second placements and variety in the training year. There are opportunities to meet your personal needs and situation and we can arrange your provision individually.

Trainees at The Cotswold Teaching School Partnership also benefit from our very close links with our local primary schools. We tailor much of our course to developing cross phase transition and understanding the entire education of a child. Training here will give increased opportunities to see and try a broader range of education and to become a more complete and employable teacher.

We welcome pre-application visits, offer taster days and are happy to help guide you through the training opportunities. Please do not hesitate to get in touch
